Last week my Casablanca finally bloomed. They had more flowers than last year, I suppose because I was better about watering them through the winter months.

A while back, on the recommendations of Drew and Brian, I read One Straw Revolution.  I have long had an interest in growing things, and doing so in an organic, sustainable manner.  I found this link in the sidebar of a blog I was reading, and am posting it here, for safekeeping and 'cuz I knew a few of you would be interested.

Veranda Garden

This year I have decided to give up on the cukes and cherry tomatoes.  I didn't really have room for either, and rather than do a half-assed job on them I am going to concentrate on herbs this year.  I have planted some basil, mint, parsely and rosemary.  I also got some shiso from a friend and it has been growing like crazy.  The humidity in the Kanto is really good for plants and I expect to get a good yield again this year.  I still have another bed that I can plant so I'll head down to the Daiku Senta to see what they have for mid-early summer planting.
