Some examples from Flusser's Dressing the Man to show that there are some precedents for wearing one's watch on the outside of the sleeve. I think we could do worse than to emulate the Rake of the Riviera in our quest to achieve sartorial sprezzatura.

Yeah...
I don't think I have the panache to try it myself. I do, however, admire the daring with which some folks put their looks together.
You've always been high on my list for people that were able to make a distinctive statement without looking foppish.
